These tips on safety apply to your use of the Tortoise First Forum & other Social Networking sites such as ‘Facebook’ ®.

We recommend that you use a screen name/nickname, not your real name. Do not give your Surname (Family name).

Do not post your address, telephone/mobile phone number or email address on the open forum.

Do not post your age on the open forum.

Do not post a picture of yourself, family or friends.

Do not post a picture which might show where you live.

If a member asks for your location in order to help you find a vet or to help you with something else which might depend on your location, you should only give the name of your county/state (e.g. for UK - North Yorkshire, for USA – Dakota).

If you think you are being bullied or receiving abusive, suggestive, sexually explicit, unwanted PMs, or any attempt to contact you other than by the PM facility, or asked for your personal details, or asked to meet somebody who you have never met before, you should tell your parents/guardians and the administrator of the forum or other site concerned AT ONCE.

Do not delete any such PMs, emails or links sent to you. You will need to show them to the people you report to.

REMEBER, the person you are chatting to may not be the person they say they are.
