Hey guys

Ive had my tort a while now and he is very active wakes up same time and goes to bed same time, poos reg, basks properly and explores alot! But i have a lil prob with him eating! He was purchased from a pet store and was only fed on supermarket veg (rocket, watercress, lettuice, carrot) so when i got him home and tried him on weeds he wasnt that interested, he prefers weeds that have been rained on! but just to give him a home grown week he wil take a few bites but thats it. When i give him lettuice he eats the whole bowl!!!!

Is there a way to encourage more weed eating?

Thanks
Emma

Hi Emma
Yes, you can encourage them to eat more weeds, by slowly introducing weeds, say at 10% content, then as time goes on gradually upping the stakes by 10% a week so he eventually eats complete weeds and supplements (vitamins, cuttlefish etc)
i had a huge issue with rehomed torts who did not eat for nearly 3 months due to beign fed pellets only.
Make sure they are bathed if not eating (some reptivite in the bathwater is good) keep a good eye on weigjht loss too. (Slowly slowly catchy monkey, as they say. ) :)
